Gera MX, a talented MC and a central member of the collective Mexamafia has been a successful Mexican rapper throughout the 2010s and 2020s by paying close homage to the boom-bap origins of his influences. When Gera's "Botella Tras Botella" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021, it was the first regional Mexican song to ever do so, following the artist's growing commercial success in the late 2010s.
Gera MX (born Gerardo Daniel Torres Montante) is a famous Mexican singer. He was raised in San Luis Potos after moving there with his mother and sister when he was three. Even though Gera moved around a lot from city to city and school to school due to family and social problems, the one thing that never changed was her devotion to hip-hop. Gera spent his childhood freestyling for his peers and was heavily influenced by the pioneers of Mexican rap (Caballeros del Plan G, Control Machete, Cartel de Santa).
Gera (now Gera MXM) got his start in the music business while under the Mexamafia label, releasing his first boom-bap singles like "Va Dedicado" and "A Medio Camino" in 2012. In November of that year, he dropped his first full-length project, a mixtape titled A Medio Camino, which featured street-led rap songs with guest appearances from Amenaza, Jahpeck, Crox, and Papiros.
