Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Audrey Tait, Dino Bardot, Julian Corrie, Bob Hardy, and Alex Kapranos. The band has been successful in the UK, scoring several top-20 singles. They have been recognized with two Brit Awards (winning Best British Group), one NME Award, and multiple Grammy Award nominations.
"Darts of Pleasure" and "Take Me Out," the band's first two songs, reached the top 50 on the UK Songs Chart. The song "Take Me Out" became the band's hallmark piece after it topped the charts in multiple countries and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Their first studio album, named, was nominated for a Grammy and awarded the Mercury Prize in 2004.
The band's second studio album, You Could Have It So Much Better, was released in 2005 and was produced by Rich Costey. It reached the top ten in several countries, and one of its singles, "Do You Want To," was nominated for a Grammy. After initially focusing on post-punk, the band transitioned to a more dance-oriented style when they released their third studio album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, in January 2009. In July 2009, a remix album of Tonight was published under the title Blood.
