Arnold George Dorsey MBE (May 2, 1936) is a British pop singer. He was born in Madras, British Raj. Originally performing as "Gerry Dorsey" in the late '50s, he changed his name to the German composer Engelbert Humperdinck in 1965 and began enjoying success with the help of manager Gordon Mills. His versions of "Release Me" and "The Last Waltz" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart that year, selling over a million copies.
By his admission, "You" is an homage to motherhood, and it was composed by British songwriters Jon Allen and Jake Fields specifically for the May 2019 debut of a new album by Engelbert Humperdinck. Humperdinck surprised his wife Patricia with a music video of "You" shot at the Houdini Estate for her birthday. The singer's company has stated that an EP of tracks titled Reflections will be released in late 2019. After this, in 2020, Humperdinck released an EP titled Sentiments.
There were concerts by Humperdinck in Singapore, Manila, and Tokyo in 2019. The singer toured the UK and Europe in late 2021 and early 2022, stopping at the London Palladium. His song "A Man Without Love" appeared in the 2022 premiere episode of the Marvel Studios show "Moon Knight." A cover of the hit "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" by him was featured in the movie Bullet Train.
