Edie Arlisa Brickell (March 10, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter. Brickell was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of Larry Jean (Sellers) Linden and Paul Edward Brickell. She attended Booker T. Washington High School for the visual arts and performing. Later on, she attended Southern Methodist University and soon joined a band to pursue as a songwriter.
Brickell is widely known for 1988's Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars. It was the debut album by the famous Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. The album hit number four on the Billboard albums chart. Brickell also had a notable role in Born on the Fourth of July, a film released in 1989. She worked on Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall," which got featured as the film's soundtrack. Her cover song version of "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed also got an entry in the 1990 film named Flashback.
In 1992, Brickell worked on songs with producer Bob Wiseman in New York and Toronto. The collaboration utilized a wind ensemble, unusual keyboards, and Ron Sexsmith. Unfortunately, the record company rejected the tracks and was never released. Some of the notable discography released by Brickell as a solo artist include Picture Perfect Morning (1994), Volcano (2003), and a few more.
