Jose Gomez Romero (March 5, 1940) is artistically known as Dyango. He is a Spanish singer and musician that generally focuses on romantic music. Dyango is extensively regarded as one of the best performers on an international level. So far, he has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and is recognized as one of the most popular and respected singers in Spain and Latin America. Dyango grabbed massive popularity due to his romantic voice.
Dyango was born in Barcelona and appeared as Dyango for the first time at the Duero Song Festival (1965). He published his debut album in 1969 that was self-titled and followed this by traveling to Argentina, where he starred alongside Ginamaria Hidalgola in the film named “El Mundo es de los jovenes.”
Dyango started his career with Zafiro, and in 1974 he signed a record deal with EMI Records. In 1975, he released the first album on the label that faced significant success in Latin America.
Dyango won the prize in 1976 for Best Performer and Best Song of the Benidorm Festival. After winning awards in such a big festival, Dyango’s music career went to the next level, and he gained popularity internationally. Dyango recorded the album “Suspiros” in 1989. The album included the song “El que más te ha querido” by the Concha Valdes Miranda, a composer who also achieved worldwide success.
