Dropkick Murphys Information
The Dropkick Murphys are a Celtic punk band from the US. The group was established in 1996 in Quincy, Massachusetts. The group's lone consistent member is singer Ken Casey. Matt Kelly on drums (1997–present), Al Barr on vocals (1998–present), James Lynch on guitar (2000), Tim Brennan on multiple instruments (2003), and Jeff DaRosa on numerous instruments (2007–present) round out the current lineup.
After being signed to the indie punk label Hellcat Records, the band first found success, releasing five albums. They gained a loyal following via relentless touring and annual St. Patrick's Day week gigs in and around Boston. Their 2004 track "Tessie" was one of their most successful singles commercially.
The band's tenth studio album, Turn Up That Dial, was announced on February 23, 2021, and the single "Middle Finger" was released on February 23, 2021. The band streamed their album release party on May 1, 2021, when they played songs from Turn Up That Dial and other albums in their entirety.
Okemah Rising, the band's eleventh studio album, was released on May 12, 2023. This CD, like This Machine Still Kills Fascists, was recorded simultaneously and comprises songs that use unpublished lyrics by Woody Guthrie.
To promote the record, the band hit the road once more. Once again, Barr was not there throughout the album's creation or accompanying tour. Both "I Know How It Feels" (March 1, 2023) and "Gotta Get to Peekskill" (with Violent Femmes; March 30, 2023) were released as singles in advance of the album.
