Doyle Bramhall II Information
Doyle Bramhall II (December 24, 1968) is an American producer, guitarist, musician, and songwriter from Dallas, Texas. His music is defined as blues, soul, and rock & roll. Bramhall, for a time, also lived in Northern California. His father used to play drums for the legendary bluesmen Freddie King and Lightnin' Hopkins. He was also a lifelong collaborator with his childhood friends Jimmie Vaughan and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bramhall went on a tour with Jimmie Vaughan's band named the Fabulous Thunderbirds when he was 18.
At 20, Bramhall co-founded the band Arc Angels and Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon, members from Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section, and his fellow Texan, Charlie Sexton. The first solo album released by Bramhall was a self-titled one in 1996. It was followed by the release of his second album, Jellycream, in 1999.
In 2001, Bramhall released another album entitled Welcome, with his new band, Smokestack. Some other notable solo albums include Is It News 2007, Rich Man 2016, and Shades 2018. Bramhall has a long list of discographies that he created as collaborations with other artists. Some famous collaborations include working with Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Gary Clark Jr., T Bone Burnett, Elton John, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, and Billy Preston.
Bramhall was part of the "Wheels of Soul" tour by Tedeschi Trucks Band and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings in 2015. He also played the Englishmen Tour and the Mahindra Blues Festival in India.
