Dishwalla Information
Dishwella is an American alternative rock band. The current lineup consists of Justin Fox (lead vocals), Jim Wood (keyboards), George Pendergast (drums), Scot Alexander (backing vocals and bass), and Rodney Browning Cravens (backing vocals and lead guitar). Originally released in 1994, the cover version of "It's Going to Take Some Time" is part of the tribute album If I Were a Carpenter, which pays homage to The Carpenters.
The band achieved widespread success in 1996 thanks to the track "Counting Blue Cars," taken from their 1995 album Pet Your Friends and reached 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. In 1996, the song won them the Billboard Award for "Best Rock Song," and in 1996 and 1997, it won them the ASCAP Award for "Rock Track of the Year." And You Think You Know What Life's About, their follow-up album from 1998, could not maintain the band's fame after "Counting Blue Cars" became a hit.
Opaline, Dishwalla's third album, was released by Immergent Records in 2002. Gregg Wattenberg is credited with producing the album. Dishwalla, the band's 2005 self-titled album on Orphanage Records, was produced by Sylvia Massy, Bill Szymczyk, and Ryan Greene. J.R. Richards would step down as the band's lead singer with this album.
Dishwalla has expanded its forays into the spotlight in subsequent years. The 1995 film Empire Records used the song "Counting Blue Cars." There's music called "Pretty Babies" from Blast from the Past.
