Dennis DeYoung (February 18, 1947) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and producer. He is from Chicago, Illinois. The music style of DeYoung is described as rock, pop-rock, soft rock, rock, and Broadway. He began his career as a vocalist at the age of 14 in 1961. At this stage, he met his neighbors Chuck and John Panozzo. The trio was later joined by guitarist James Young and John Curulewski and formed the band Tradewinds. The band changed its name to Styx in 1970.
With his band Styx, Dennis DeYoung performed as a keyboardist, accordion player, lead vocalist, producer, and songwriter. The top-10 Billboard hits that DeYoung wrote and sang are seven in number. Their peaking happened in the following manner; "Babe" (number one hit to date by the band), "Mr. Roboto" (number three), "Show Me The Way" (number three), "The Best of Times" (number three), "Don't Let It End" (number six), "Lady" (number six0, and "Come Sail Away" (number eight ).
Dennis DeYoung began his solo career in 1984 with his first album named Desert Moon (1984). It generated a top 10 hit named "Desert Moon." It was followed by "Don't Wait for Heroes," Back to the World (1986), Boomchild (1988), ten on Broadway (1994), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), The Music of Styx - Live with Symphony Orchestra (Live, 2004), One Hundred Years from Now (2007/2009), 26 East: Volume 1 (2020), and a few more.
