Dead Letter Office - REM Tribute is a collection of many additional recordings that were made by R.E.M from before Murmur to Lifes Rich Pageant. The group is famous for faithfully reproducing the music and energy of a live R.E.M. show. The album is more praised due to many of the tracks that are favorite cover versions indicating the band's disparate influences and musical tastes. These covers include three Velvet Underground shelters along with tracks by Pylon, Aerosmith, and Roger Miller.
Dead Letter Office - REM Tribute was initially issued as a 15-song collection on vinyl and cassette. Later, its CD edition came out to which five tracks from the 1982 Chronic Town EP by the band were added. Dead Letter Office initially reached number 52 in America and number 60 in England. The majority of the songs included on the Post Side of the album were written by Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Bill Berry, and Michael Stipe such as “Burning Down" – 4:12 B-side of "Wendell Gee," "Burning Hell" – 3:49 B-side of "Can’t Get There from Here," and a few more.
Some of the bonus tracks in the CD are "Wolves, Lower," “Gardening at Night," "Carnival of Sorts (Box Cars)," and a few more.
