David Phelps Information
David Norris Phelps (October 21, 1969) is an American songwriter, vocal arranger, Christian Music Vocalist, and singer. He was born in Texas and graduated from Tomball High School (1988). Phelps also attended Baylor University from where he earned a degree in music and vocal performance in 1992. His music style is defined as Christian and Southernmost Gospel.
Phelps played his part in the band named Gaither Vocal Band (1996-2005 and 2009-2017). In 2017, he left this band to pursue his solo career and got replaced by Reggie Smith. To date, he has released many solo albums such as Journey to Grace, Joy, Joy, David Phelps, Revelation, Life is a Church, Legacy of Love: David Phelps Live!, No More Night: Live in Birmingham, One Wintry Night, The Voice, Christmas With David Phelps [LIVE], Family Band, Classic, Freedom, Hymnal, It Must Be Christmas, and many more.
Phelps also appeared in many other albums including In My Life Larry Gatlin (Spring House) (background), Lordsong Lordsong (Daywind); "Trial of the Heart" (background), Pursuing His Presence The God Chasers (Spring Hill); "Completely Yours" (solo), Homecoming Lullabies Gaither Gospel Series; "I Spy" (solo), and a few more. A few of his notable singles are 2006: "The Power of the Dream," 2007: "There Is a Fountain," 2016: "Water" (life), 2017: "Santa Claus, Get Well Soon" (studio), and 2020: "Last Night On Earth."
Phelps has also appeared on Extreme Makeover Home Edition for the Woodhouse family, and he is the winner of twelve Dove Awards (with the Gaither Vocal Band), and four Grammy Awards. He also had many platinum-selling projects.
