David Cook Information
David Roland Cook (December 20, 1982) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter from Houston, Texas. His music is classified as post-grunge and alternative rock. Cook was raised in Blue Springs, Missouri, as the middle of three brothers developing an interest in music at a young age. Cook received his first guitar at 13 and began singing when he was in second grade. He began to perform in every Christmas and PTA program. During his time at the Blue Springs South High School, he performed in musicals such as West Side Story, The Music Man, and a few more. In 2001, Cook graduated from high school and attended the University of Central Missouri.
After college, Cook went to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to pursue a career in music. During his college days, he founded a band named Red Eye, which later changed to Axium. “Red Hot” was the first song written by Cook when he was 15. One of the other songs by him includes “Hold.” His first band was named one of the top 15 independent bands in the country by the “Got Milk?” contest in 2004. The band’s three studio albums are Blindsided, Matter of Time, and The Story Thus Far.
After his first band broke up and Cook moved to Tulsa, he began to work with Midwest Kings, a band he once opened for. In 2006, Cook recorded and self-released a solo album entitled Analog Heart. Some of his other solo albums include David Cook (2008), This Loud Morning (2011), and Digital Vein (2015). Some of the notable headlining tours done by Cook are The Declaration Tour (2009), Digital Vein Tour (2015–16), and Acoustic Tour (2018). He won many Teen Choice Awards along with a few The New Music Awards.
