David Archuleta Information

David James Archuleta (December 28, 1990) is an American singer-songwriter and actor from Miami, Florida. His family moved to the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy, Utah, where he attended Murray High School before appearing on American Idol. At the age of 21, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Archuleta graduated from Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Salt Lake City. He is currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. He began singing when he was only six, getting inspired by a Les Misérables video.

At the age of 10, Archuleta started performing publicly. He participated in the Utah Talent Competition, where Archuleta sang "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton and ended up winning the Child Division. At the age of 12, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on "Star Search 2". Later in 2008, he ended being second on the seventh season of "American Idol."

Archuleta began his official career in 2003 when he sang on several episodes of the television show Star Search. It was followed by his appearance on "The Jenny Jones Show,” where he met the finalist from American Idol"s the first season. The year after "Star Search," Archuleta found out that he had partial vocal paralysis, but he rejected the risky major surgery and claimed that he is almost fully recovered.
