Classic Albums Live Information
Classic Albums Live is a performance series in Toronto, Ontario, featuring performers performing tracks from a classic rock album. Craig Martin, a musician with experience producing boutique cabaret acts and writing music for cinema and television, started the series in 2003.
The musicians have carefully replicated every instrument and sound effect from the original record. Orchestras, soloists, choruses, and even some schools have included their performances. The concerts take the format of recitals, with the full album played before moving on to the featured artist's "greatest hits" collection.
Local artists are brought in to fill open slots at certain places to meet demand. At Hard Rock Live in Orlando on June 16, 2006, the band played "Sgt. Pepper" by the Beatles with the help of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, which filled in for the missing orchestral sections. They frequently play Massey Hall while they are in Toronto. Gig, a musical developed by the creator of Classic Albums Live, will premiere in 2016.
