The Church of the Cosmic Skull is a rock band from Britain. Bill Fisher, Joanne Joyce, Caroline Cawley, Michael Wetherburn, Joe Stone, Sam Lloyd, and Laurence Stone comprise the band's current roster. Bill Fisher, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, started the band in 2016. Many of the group's earliest songs had been written by individual members while they were in different bands in and around Nottingham.
Fisher preferred the band's focus on strong songwriting rather than technical prowess, and he had an interest in progressive pop and rock. His musical upbringing was shaped by artists like Queen, The Beatles, Thin Lizzy, Kate Bush, David Bowie, and Peter Gabriel. The Hammond organ, piano, violins, and vocal harmonies play significant roles in the instrumentation. In honor of the solar eclipse on the same day, the band released "Evil in Your Eye" from their debut album, Is Satan Real?, on August 21, 2017.
They also covered Pink Floyd's "The Trial" for the tribute album The Wall Redux by Magnetic Eye Records. The group's first album was released on Bilocation Records, their second album was released on Kozmik Artifactz, and their third album was issued on their label Septaphonic Records. The band has received interest from major record labels but plans to release their music and promote themselves independently.
