Charles William "Chuck" Prophet is an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, and producer. He is from California. His music style is defined as rock and Alt-country. He calls San Francisco his home. Chuck began his musical career by joining the rock group Green on Red. From this band, he achieved fame. He toured extensively with the band and recorded many successful discographies. Along with Green on Red, Chuck also worked as a solo artist and gained fame as a solo songwriter and musician.
In total, Chuck recorded one E.P. and eight albums with rock group Green on Red including 1985: Gas Food Lodging (Enigma), 1985: No Free Lunch (Mercury), 1988: Here Come the Snakes (Mercury), 1989: Live at the Town & Country (China), 1989: This Time Around (Off-Beat / China), 1992: Too Much Fun (Off-Beat / China), 2005: Live at the Rialto (Blue Rose), along with a few more.
Chuck released his first solo record Brother Aldo in 1990, on Fire Records. He also recorded and toured with his wife Stephanie Finch, who is also a guitarist, singer, and keyboardist. He worked with many record labels, including Yep Roc Records, New West Records, and a few more. Some of his notable studio albums as a solo artist include 1992 Balinese Dancer, 1995: Feast of Hearts, 1997: Homemade Blood, 1999: The Hurting Business, 2000: Turn the Pigeons Loose, 2007 Dreaming Waylon's Dreams, 2012: Temple Beautiful, 2014: Night Surfer, 2017: Bobby Fuller Died for Your Sins, and many others.
Chuck also appeared as a guest musician in Eddie Ray Porter - When The Morning Falls, Sonya Hunter - Favorite Short Stories, Calvin Russell - Calvin Russell: The Silos – Heater, Duane Jarvis – Delicious, Jeffrey Halford and the Healers – Railbirds, along with many others.
