Janny Marin Rivera (June 26, 1985) is an American television personality and singer. She is professionally known as Chiquis Rivera. She was born in Los Angeles, California. She is Presbyterian and goes to church with her family very regularly. Rivera started her singing career at the beginning of 2014. She released her debut single entitled “Paloma Blanca,” that she dedicated to her mother as a tribute. She also made her debut on international television at Premios Juventud, performing “Esa No Soy Yo.”
Rivera made her television debut in a reality show named Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C. She also appeared on her mother’s hit spin-off reality show; I Love Jenni. On June 2, 2015, Rivera released her debut album entitled Ahora. She also released a memoir entitled, Forgiveness on April 7, 2015. In 2020, she received a Latin Grammy Award for the 2020 album, Playlist.
The musical style of Rivera is classified as banda, which is a form of traditional Mexican music popular, particularly in Mexico. Her music originated in Sinaloa, whereas the music sound incorporates instruments such as trumpets, clarinets, and tuba. In 2018, she released an album entitled Entre Botellas. In 2015, Rivera got the nomination in Latin American Music Awards in two different categories: Favorite Female Artist and New Artist of the Year.
