Sheldon Young (May 26, 1991) is an American singer, record producer, and rapper. He was born in Campton, California. Young is professionally known as Channel Tres. He grew up in southern Los Angeles, which is situated between Lynwood and Campton. Tres spent his time playing drums for the choir at his church. He soon left home to study music and took admission at a private Christian university in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After completing his studies, Tres returned to Los Angeles, where his childhood friend brought him to the studio sessions. There Tres rose to develop beats for Kehlani, Wale, Duckword, and many others.
Tres rose to international prominence in 2018. His release entitled “Controller” received major airplay on BBC Radio 1. Triple J, an Australian radio station, also added “Controller” to their A-list rotation. They also called it one of 2018’s biggest cult hits. In 2019, Tres played his debut headline show in the United States.
Tres released his self-titled debut EP on July 27, 2018. Other EPs include Black Moses (August 16, 2019) and I Can’t Go Outside (December 11, 2020). Some of his notable singles include “Jet Black,” “Brilliant Nigga”, “Sexy Black Timberlake,” “Weedman,” “Skate Depot,” and “Glide.”
