Cellar Darling Information
Cellar Darling is a three-piece Swiss progressive folk trio that originated from Winterthur and Lucerne, Switzerland. The group was founded in 2016 by Merlin Sutter (drums), Anna Murphy (vocals, hurdy-gurdy, flute), and Ivo Henzi (guitars and bass). The music of the band is classified as folk metal and progressive metal. Cellar Darling also incorporates classical, heavy metal, folk, and progressive influences. Most notably, the band is known for using a traverse flute and a hurdy-gurdy, an old folk instrument. The three group members were formerly a part of the Swiss metal band, Eluveitie.
Cellar Darling launched its first single called "Challenge" on September 23, 2016, along with the b-side track "Fire, Wind & Earth." It was a self-release, and they directed the music video. Some of the band's first shows were played in December 2016, when the band supported The Gentle Storm in Amsterdam, and Amorphis in Zurich, Switzerland. This Is the Sound was the debut album by Cellar Darling, released on June 20, 2017. The band's initial releases include a single called "Black Moon," "Avalanche," and the second album entitled The Spell in March 2019.
