Camp Cope Information
Camp Cope is an Australian alternative rock trio, with the current lineup comprising Sarah Thompson, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, and Georgia McDonald. Camp Cope's releases in North America and Europe were distributed by independent Boston label Run for Cover Records, while in Australia, they were released by Thompson's independent label Poison City Records. Camp Cope announced in February 2023 that their final concert would be at Brunswick Music Fest in Australia on 11 March 2023.
Their debut album debuted in the top 40 of the ARIA Albums Chart in April of 2016, and it also received a J Award nomination for Australian Album of the Year. They also received six nominations and the "Heatseeker Award" at the first-ever National Live Music Awards. The debut album by Camp Cope was named 2016's Album of the Year by the website Faster Louder.
Additionally, at the 2016 The Age Music Victoria Awards, the band took home the trophy for Best Emerging Act. Before recording How to Socialise & Make Friends, Camp Cope sent their engineer records by numerous bands that impacted them, including Philadelphia indie rock acts Hop Along and Cayetana. Hellmrich, a bassist, looks up to bassists like Peter Hook of Joy Division and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182.
