BoDeans Information
BoDeans is an American rock band that was formed in 1983 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The group came to prominence in the 1980s. The band’s current lineup consists of Kurt Newman (lead guitar and lead vocals), Eric Holden (bass), Tolan Shaw (acoustic guitar and backing vocals), Stefano Intelisano (keyboards and accordion), Kramer Sell (drums), Bukka Allen (keyboards and accordion), Kenny Aronoff (drums), and Glenn Fukunaga (bass). The sound of the group encompasses multiple rock genres such as alternative rock and heartland rock.
A big hit by the BoDeans is “Closer to Free,” which was used as the theme song for the famous television series “Party of Five.” The group is described as one of the most successful and best-known bands to come out of the Milwaukee area. They are also included in a permanent installation at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. BoDeans released its critically acclaimed debut album in 1986, entitled “Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams.”
BoDeans has signed record deals with a few different record labels such as F&A Slash, 429, Zoe, He & He Records, and Megaforce/MRI Records. Their notable studio albums include Outside Looking In (1987), Home (1989), Black and White (1991), Go Slow Down (1993), “Joe Dirt Car” (1995), Blend (1996), Resolution (2004), Still (2008), Mr. Sad Clown (2010), Indigo Dreams (2011), American Made (2012), Amped Across America (2013), I Can’t Stop (2015), and Thirteen (2017).
