Bloodywood Information
Bloodywood is an Indian heavy metal band. The group's current lineup consists of Karan Katiyar, Jayant Bhadula, and Raoul Kerr. Karan Katiyar had problems finding a suitable vocalist while frequently uploading parody metal interpretations of popular Bollywood songs on YouTube before joining the band. After hearing him perform at a local gig, Katiyar was taken with Jayant Bhadula, a talent manager for a local entertainment company.
Katiyar left his work as a corporate lawyer in 2016 to form a two-piece band alongside Bhadula to " destroy pop songs." Many media outlets, including Loudwire and Metal Hammer, praised Bloodywood's 2017 cover of "Heavy" by Linkin Park, which they re-recorded in the band's early nu-metal style, as "what Linkin Park's Heavy should have sounded like."
In 2017, the band released Anti-Pop Vol. 1, a collection of cover songs, on their Bandcamp page. After that, there was a metal cover of Daler Mehndi's "Tunak Tunak Tun," a popular Bhangra/Indi-pop song, with guest vocals by Bonde do Metaleiro. Covering the Bhangra song "Ari Ari" by the duo Bombay Rockers, a cover of the Indian folk song "Baari Barsi," Bloodywood released their version in 2018.
