Black Stone Cherry Information
Black Stone Cherry is an American band that plays hard rock, heavy metal, southern rock, alternative metal, and post-grunge genres. The band originates from Edmonton, Kentucky, and founded by Chris Robertson and John Fred Young (the son of Richard Young from The Kentucky Headhunters).
Chris and John, who had been playing music together since they were teens, formed Black Stone Cherry on June 4, 2001, and soon afterward began holding shows in clubs around Edmonton. In May 2006, the band released a self-titled album, after which their former school principal invited them to play at the gym of their local middle school. Some 1,500 people attended the event.
In August 2008, they released their second album Folklore and Superstition and in the same year, acted as band support for Whitesnake and Def Leppard on their tour in the U.K. the following year they supported Dark Horse and Nickelback on their tour as well.
In May 2011, they released their third album Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and in the same year, got a nomination for the Classic Rock Awards. Between October and November the same year, the band was again supporting Alter Bridge and the Theory of a Deadman in their European tours. In 2012, they also did their own UK tour, which was reported to have sold out.
On April 1, 2016, the band released another album Kentucky, which climbed to No.1 on the Billboard Hard Rock albums chart. That was their second consecutive No.1 album release. Early last year, they released the first single Burnin from their album Family Tree.
