Barry Goudreaus Engine Room Information
Barry Goudreau (November 29, 1951) is an American musician. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Goudreau's interest in music began at a young age, and at 11, he borrowed an acoustic guitar from a neighbor. At 13, he joined his first band and started taking classes. When he was 15, he hooked up with future Boston bandmate and drummer Sib Hashian, and the two started playing in a different band. They would sometimes perform seven times a week in bars.
Eventually, he connected with future Boston bandmates Brad Delp and Fran Sheehan. Ultimately, he did not join Delp's band after auditioning for it. He attended Boston University to major in Geoscience. He had put music aside to concentrate on his studies, but when he ran into Tom Scholz across the river at MIT, he couldn't help but get back into it.
Together with Brian Maes, Tim Archibald, Tony DePietro, Mary Beth Maes, Joanie Cicatelli, and Terri O'Soro, Goudreau created the band Barry Goudreau's Engine Room. In September 2017, they unveiled their self-titled debut album via Disc. Goudreau has been touring with the American Vinyl All-Star Band since 2014 alongside Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Goudreau has made guest appearances with Scrap Metal, a band featuring Gunner and Matthew Nelson, the sons of musician Ricky Nelson.
