Avi Wisnia is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia who combines bossa nova with blues, acoustic folk, 1950s West Coast jazz, and modern pop. Wisnia has been actively recording and performing in the US since his debut in 2005 at Caffe Vivaldi in New York City. He recorded his debut EP, Avi Wisnia Presents, in 2007. His cover of TLC's "No Scrubs" earned him the 2009 OutMusic Award for Outstanding Jazz Song of the Year. He includes this song on his 2010 full-length debut, "Something New," which was praised by various Philadelphia and New York outlets, including TimeOut New York, The Magazine, and 88.5 WXPN in Philadelphia.
His digital song Sky Blue Sky, released in September 2015, was recorded by satellite between Philadelphia and Rio de Janeiro. This song was a finalist in the 32nd Mid-Atlantic Song Contest's Vocal Jazz/Blues category and the Philadelphia Songwriter's Project Songwriting Competition.
