Anti-Nowhere League Information
Anti-Nowhere League is an English punk rock band which was formed by lead singer Animal (Nick Culmer), Bones (Tony Shaw) on drums, guitarist Magoo (Chris Exall), and Chris Elvy on bass. The music style of the group is defined as street punk, punk rock, hardcore punk, and Oi!. The Anti-Nowhere League was formed in 1979. The very first gig presented by the band on March 31, 1980, which was a three-piece at the 1980 Chaos Show at St Mark's Hall, Royal Tunbridge Wells.
The first track by Anti-Nowhere League was a cover version of Ralph McTell's "Streets of London'' that peaked at number 48 in the UK Singles Chart. ANL took part in the 'So What Tour' in 1982 alongside groups such as Chelsea, Chron Gen, The Meteors, and The Defects. In the same year, the group released its debut album entitled We Are...The League which hit number 24 in the UK Albums Chart. It was followed by the live album Live In Yugoslavia, The Perfect Crime, Scum, Kings and Queens, The Road To Rampton, We Are...The League...Un-cut, The Cage, and League Style.
Some of the notable singles and EPs by ANL include "Streets of London," "Anti-Nowhere League EP," "I Hate... People", "Woman," "World War III," "For You," "Out On The Wasteland," "Crime," "Fuck Around The Clock," "Pig Iron EP." The group also released six Live albums; Live and Loud, The Horse Is Dead, Return To Yugoslavia, Live: So What?, Live Animals, and one more. Long Live The League, Complete Singles Collection, Anti Nowhere League – Anthology, are some of the Compilations and DVDs by Anti-Nowhere League.
