Anti-Flag Information
Anti-Flag is an American punk rock band that was founded in 1988 by drummer Pat Thetic and singer/guitarist Justin Sane. The group originated from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the current lineup of Anti-Flag consisting of Justin Sane – lead vocals, lead guitar; Chris Barker – bass guitar, backing, and lead vocals; Chris Head – bass guitar (1997), rhythm guitar, backing vocals; and Pat Thetic – drums, percussion. Some touring members are Erik Pitluga – drums, Josh Massie – guitar, Donny Donovan – guitar, Steve LaRussa - backing vocals, bass guitar, and a few more.
Anti-Flag is also well-known for its advocacy of progressive political action groups such as Amnesty International and Greenpeace. Currently, the group members work with the global Occupy Together movement.
A 17-song demo album called 17 Songs was the first discography by the band that was released in 1992. It was followed by their first studio album entitled Die For the Government on New Red Archives. The album was released in 1996. Their System Doesn't Work For You is the second album by Anti-Flag that was released in 1998. This album was released independently and turned out to be the debut release for the band's A-F Records. Some of the other notable studio albums by the group are A New Kind of Army (1999), Underground Network (2001), Mobilize (2002), The Terror State (2003), For Blood and Empire (2006), The Bright Lights of America (2008), The General Strike (2012), and American Fall (2017).
