Anthony Jamar Brown (October 22, 1981) is an American urban contemporary gospel artist and musician born in Baltimore, Maryland. Brown became Assistant Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. In 2012, he started his musical career with his debut release of “Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy.” The album was released on August 21, 2012, under the record label Tyscot Records. Justin Savage and Brown produced it.
“Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy” became a breakthrough release for Brown’s career as it reached the Billboard charts. It was placed at number 130 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Gospel Albums. The album also reached number 19 on the Independent Albums chart. The album brought positive reviews by many big names, such as Peggy Oliver and Andry Kellman.
Members of the ensemble include Ashia Bello, Shirley Daley, Jamarice Daughtry, Michelle Thompson, Martellies Warren, Nicole Wilson, Mashica Winslow, Doretha Sampson, and Gabriel Hansborough. Anthony Brown released a few more studio albums, including Everyday Jesus (July 17, 2015), A Long Way from Sunday (July 28, 2017), and Second Wind: Ready (October 18, 2019).
