Algiers Information
Algiers is an American rock band that originated from Atlanta, Georgia, and was formed in 2012. The band’s music is defined as post-punk, soul, gospel, and industrial. The current lineup of the Algiers includes Franklin James Fisher (vocals, guitar, piano, Rhodes piano, cello, percussion, sampling), Ryan Mahan (bass, synthesizers, piano, percussion, drum programming, backing vocals), Lee Tesche (guitar, loops, percussion, backing vocals, letter), and Matt Tong (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The sound of the band is defined as a dystopian soul.
Fisher, Mahan, and Tesche grew up playing music together in Atlanta, Georgia, but their official career as a band was initiated from London in 2012. They released their first single "Blood" in January 2012. It was followed by the band's self-titled debut album, which was released on June 2, 2015, via Matador. Algiers opened for Interpol, during their North American Tour right after this release. In the spring of the following year, Algiers premiered and toured the Eastern US. The band released their second studio album entitled The Underside of Power on June 23, 2017. The year 2018 saw the group on the road with Young Fathers, a DIY tour with Downtown Boys.
There Is No Year is the third album by Algiers on January 17, 2020. Some of the notable singles and EPs by the band are "Mute Studio Sessions" (2015), "Walk Like A Panther" (2017), "Blood" / "Black Eunuch" (2017), "1st November 1954" (2018), "Void" (2019), and a few more. Some of the other tracks included in the band’s albums include "And When You Fall," "But She Was Not Flying," "The Cycle the Spiral Timo to go Down Slowly," and a few more.
