Alexisonfire Information
Alexisonfire is a Canadian post-hardcore band. The group's current lineup consists of Jordan Hastings, Chris Steele, Wade MacNeil, Dallas Green, and George Pettit. After the dissolution of three bands towards the end of 2001, a new group called Alexisonfire emerged. Green was the lead vocalist and guitarist for Helicon Blue, Pettit was in the metal band Condemning Salem, and MacNeil and Steele were punks in the band Plan 9.
At roughly the same time as these groups went their separate ways, Pettit, Steele, MacNeil, and Green were joined by Jesse Ingelevics on drums to form Alexisonfire. Alexis Fire was the inspiration for the band's moniker. The fire threatened legal action when she found out that they were using the name of her website as their band name, but when it was revealed that the name had not been registered, the matter was dropped.
The band's first EP, Math Sheets Demo, was published in 2002 and got its name because the CD packaging featured Jesse Ingelevics' math assignments. Recording engineer Greg Below and Montreal writer Mitch Joel saw this and decided to sign the band as the first musicians for their new record company, Distort Entertainment. Below had a co-publishing and distribution arrangement with EMI, and they could record at EMI's in-house studio.
