The film was directed and choreographed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, starring Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor, and Kelly. The musical portrays the pleasuring depiction of Hollywood in the 1920s. When the musical was first released, it received only modest popularity among the audience. However, it has now been considered as the most significant musical film that is ever made, also, the most significant films ever made in the “Freed Unit” at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Singin’ in the Rain topped the Greatest Movie Musicals of AFI list. It has been ranked as the fifth-greatest American motion picture of all time. The film was selected for preservation purposes in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress. It was included in the list of 50 movies to be seen by the age of 14 by the British Film Institute. Singin’ in the Rain was also ranked by the Empire Magazine in 2008 as the eighth-best film of all time.
