Million Dollar Quartet Information
The album "Million Dollar Quartet" was recorded at the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 4, 1956. It features the spontaneous jam session of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. "Million Dollar Quartet" was the headline of an article in the Memphis Press-Scimitar that detailed the session. 1981, the 17-track album was initially issued in Europe under The Million Dollar Quartet.
The legend says that Elvis Presley dropped by Sun Studio with his fiancée, and they joined Perkins, who was already recording there. Session pianist Jerry Lee Lewis was also there. Sun Records artist Johnny Cash also showed up to the unscheduled jam session.
A few years later, additional songs were found and released as The Complete Million Dollar Session. U.S. audiences heard the tracks in 1990 under the title Elvis Presley: The Million Dollar Quartet. Some say this session was a watershed point for rock and roll.
