Cinderella - The Musical Information
Broadway productions of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella feature David Zippel's lyrics and Emerald Fennell's book. The musical features Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. Plot points include reimagining gender roles and examining beauty standards loosely based on the same-titled classic tale. Despite her best efforts, Cinderella learns that being authentic is more important than altering her appearance to win love.
The epidemic halted London performances, which had begun in June 2021 with West End previews. Ultimately, the show premiered in August 2021 to generally good reviews and continued until June 2022.
In March 2023, after a month of preview performances, the musical renamed Bad Cinderella due to revisions, premiered on Broadway. After receiving zero Tony Award nominations and mostly bad reviews, the production ended in June 2023. Released in July 2021, the show's concept album was nominated for Best Musical Theater Album at the Grammys.
