Women's college basketball in the West Coast Conference culminates each year at the tournament hosted by the conference. The champion will be entered into the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship as a first-round bye. ESPNU airs coverage of the championship across the country. From 1992 through 1994, games were held on college campuses, but beginning in 1995, they were moved to the same venue as the men's tournament.
With the addition of a ninth club in 2012, the Western Conference (WCC) changed its format (BYU). The two best players in the tournament (based on their seeding) advanced to the final four on Saturday.
Since all WCC schools are private, faith-based institutions and BYU has a firm policy forbidding Sunday play, the championship game was played on Monday, December 3rd, and aired on ESPNU. Besides the finals, BYUtv Sports broadcasts every women's game. After adding Pacific for the 2013–14 season, the tournament expanded to a standard 10-team format.
