The UConn Huskies are the women's collegiate basketball team representing the University of Connecticut in Connecticut, in Division I play. After seven years in the American Athletic Conference, the 2020–21 season saw their return to the Big East.
With 11 NCAA Division I National Championships, including a women's record four in a row from 2013 to 2016, and over 50 conference regular season and tournament titles, the UConn Huskies are the country's most successful women's basketball program.
They have played in every NCAA tournament since 1989, which is the third-longest current streak in Division I as of the completion of the 2018–2019 season. They have also made 14 consecutive Final Four appearances as of 2022.
The University of Connecticut women's basketball team has been one of the most popular in recent years, drawing crowds to the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs and the XL Center in Hartford for home games.
After losing overtime to Stanford on November 17, 2014, the Huskies went on to win 126 consecutive regular-season games before losing 68-57 to Baylor on January 3, 2019. This is the longest winning run in college basketball history.
In the Bridgeport Region of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, UConn defeated 15th-seeded Mercer, 7th-seeded UCF, 3rd-seeded Indiana, and 1st-seeded N.C. State to advance to the final four for the 14th year in a row. They went on to defeat their long-time rivals and 2016 national winners, Stanford, sending them to their first national title game appearance in almost two years.
During the 2023-2024 NCAA Tournament, UConn's team reached the Final Four before losing to Iowa who went on to win the tournament.
