North Carolina State Wolfpack Womens Basketball Information

North Carolina State University's women's basketball team competes in NCAA Division I as the Wolfpack. North Carolina State University's women's basketball program started in 1974. NC State began its 1974–1975 season with a 57–45 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers under inaugural head coach Robert "Peanut" Doak. The Wolfpack went on to finish 11–4.

Kay Yow became the women's basketball and athletics coach coordinator on July 1, 1975. On December 6, 1975, Coach Yow began her coaching career, and on January 10, 1976, the Wolfpack defeated the College of Charleston Cougars 68–64.

On April 4, 2013, the University of Tennessee–Chattanooga named Wes Moore the fourth head coach in the program's history. The women's basketball program at NC State has revived under Coach Moore's direction since he was hired.

Moore led the Wolfpack to a 25-8 record, fourth place in the ACC, and an NCAA Tournament appearance in his first season at NC State (2013–14). He was honored as the ESPNW ACC Coach of the Year for his remarkable achievements.

The 2020–2021 squad tied the school record for highest ranking throughout the regular season, spending the whole time rated in the top ten. They spent the majority of the season ranked in the top five.
