The Lady Bulldogs of Georgia are the University of Georgia sports representatives. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is the conference in which the Lady Bulldogs team competes. The Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia, is where the "Lady Dawgs," as frequently referred to, perform—1979 marked the beginning of Coach Landers' tenure as the team's first full-time coach.
Except for 1992 and 1994, the Lady Dogs have participated in every NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament since the tournament's inception in 1982. This includes the year 2014, when they did not participate. Historically, they have been among the top programs in the NCAA women's basketball field.
Georgia has won seven regular-season titles in the Southeastern Conference and four conference tournament championships. It has participated in the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament 36 times, which is tied for second place among all schools regarding the number of appearances. Katie Abrahamson-Henderson serves as the team's coach. In addition, the Lady Bulldogs have competed in five Final Fours and eleven Elite Eights, although they have never been able to win a National Championship.
