Xavier Foley Information
Xavier Foley, a bassist, took first place in three competitions: the 2014 Sphinx Competition, the 2016 Young Concert Artists Auditions, and the 2014 Astral Artists National Auditions. As a result, he has played as a featured soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony, the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the Sphinx Virtuosi, with whom he had previously toured the East and West coasts as a soloist, he made his Carnegie Hall debut in that capacity.
The Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, Impromptu, and the St. Vincent College concert series feature him this season. As principal bass of the New York String Seminar Orchestra, he played in Carnegie Hall as a First Prize winner of the International Society Bassist Competition in both 2009 (Junior Division) and 2011 (Senior Division).
He is a composer and performer who graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in 2016 after studying with Edgar Meyer and Hal Robinson. As a double bassist, Xavier Foley plays music from all over the world, and he hopes to one day be recognized as a global music icon.
