Wishbone Ash Information
Wishbone Ash is a British rock band that was founded in October 1969. The band was formed by drummer Steve Upton and bass guitarist Martin Turner in Torquay. The music of the group is defined as hard rock, blues rock, progressive rock, and folk-rock. The current lineup of the Wishbone Ash consists of Andy Powell – guitar, vocals; Joe Crabtree – drums; Bob Skeat – bass, vocals; and Mark Abrahams – guitar. The group secured an opening spot for Deep Purple in early 1970.
Wishbone Ash was the debut album by the group, released in December 1970. The album was followed by Pilgrimage a year later, and Argus, which gave the group their commercial peak in 1972. Some of the other notable albums by the band are Wishbone Four, There's the Rub, Locked In, New England, No Smoke Without Fire, Twin Barrels Burning, Here to Hear, Illuminations, Elegant Stealth, and Coat of Arms.
In 2000, Wishbone Ash celebrated their 30th anniversary. The group members organized a filmed show at Shepherds Bush Empire in London. One of the special guests was Wisefield and Hamill, as well as other friends for a star-studded concert. It resulted in Live Dates 3 and a live DVD. The band has developed two group gatherings, which include AshFest in the United States and AshCon in the UK, both starting in 1994.
