Webster Gradney, Jr (September 6, 1985) is an American rapper, actor, and songwriter. He performs under the mononym Webbie. Webbie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has been writing rhymes since he was just five years old. Webbie had been a fan of rap artists throughout his childhood, including Southern hip hop performers UGK, the Geto Boys, Eightball & MJG, and Master P. He began appearing on Lil Boosie’s album, “For My Thugz” track “Gotta Get It” in 2001. In 2003, Webbie and Lil Boosie released Ghetto Stories and Gangsta Musik in 2004.
Webbie was signed with Trill Entertainment after his growing popularity. He soon released his major-label debut album, Savage Life, on July 5, 2005. The album debuted at number eight on the United States Billboard 200 chart. Webbie has appeared in an independent biographical movie, Ghetto Stories. The movie was released in October 2010 with Lil Boosie. The theme was based on their lives and lyrics. His other film appearances include On The Grind (2006), Ghetto Stories: The Movie (2010), and Video Girl (2011).
Webbie has released many studio albums, including Savage Life 2 (2008), Savage Life 3 (2011), Savage Life 4 (2013), Savage Life 5 (2016), and Savage Life 6 (2020). His collaboration albums are Trill Entertainment Presents: Survival of the Fittest (2007), Trill Entertainment Presents: All or Nothing (2010), and Trill Entertainment Presents: Trill Fam – Respect Is a Must (2016).
