Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) is a Los Angeles-based American string quartet that has gained fame for their covers of popular rock and pop songs. CMH Records is an indie record label in Los Angeles that created and released a string quartet project series called VSQ. Each production at CMH involves a different group of artists, including arrangers, producers, string players, and more.
It all started in 1999 when the band came together "as an experiment in transforming rock and pop songs with classical instruments." A wide range of popular songs was eventually added. Vitamin String Quartet performed a version of "Something I Can Never Have" by Nine Inch Nails in "Contrapasso," the fifth episode of the first season of Westworld on HBO, and a performance of "Motion Picture Soundtrack" by Radiohead in "The Adversary," the sixth episode.
In 2020, King of Staten Island included a cover of "Scar Tissue" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed by the Vitamin String Quartet. The Netflix series Bridgerton features many versions by Vitamin String Quartet, including "Stay Away" by Nirvana and "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn, in the 2024 Doctor Who episode "Rogue," in tribute to Bridgerton, Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" were utilized.
