The Young Gods Information
The Young Gods is an industrial rock band that was founded in 1985 originating from Geneva. The music of the group is defined as post-industrial, industrial, Avant-rock, and industrial rock. The current lineup of The Young Gods consists of Franz Treichler (aka Franz Muse) – vocals, sampler, computer, guitar; Cesare Pizzi (aka Ludan Dross) – sampler, computer; and Bernard Trontin – drums, electronics. The former members are Frank Bagnoud – drums; Urs "Üse" Hiestand – drums; Alain Monod (aka Al Comet) – sampler, keyboards, guitar, and Vincent Hänni – guitar, bass guitar, electronics.
The group took its name from the track "Young God" from Swans' 1984 EP of the same name. The music of The Young Gods is primarily based on sampling and sound manipulation. Their songs are created from various samples, including distorted guitar riffs and string sections. Some of the initial releases by the band are "Envoyé" (debut single), "Did You Miss Me?," and "September Song."
The band released many hit studio albums during its career such as The Young Gods Play Kurt Weill (1991), T.V. Sky (1992), Only Heaven (1995), Heaven Deconstruction (1996), Second Nature (2000), Music for Artificial Clouds (2004), Super Ready/Fragmenté (2007), Everybody Knows (2010), and Data Mirage Tangram (2019).
Many artists are highly influenced by The Young Gods such as Mike Patton, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and Disco Inferno guitarist Ian Crause.
