The Travelin’ Kine is an American band founded by Slaton Glover, who served 13 years as a firefighter in Charleston. Glover lost close friends in the Sofa Super Store fire, and it took years for him to overcome the grief of losing loved ones. He eventually married the love of his life, who was the widow of one of his fallen buddies. However, the marriage didn’t work, and soon they decided to divorce.
When Glover was signing his divorce papers, he wrote a song entitled “Change in the Wind.” Since this, his life has turned, and Glover devoted his whole life to music. He left the fire department after he realized it was no longer for him. Glover started giving full time and devotion to his band, The Travelin’ Kine. The group was nominated for the City Paper Music Award for favorite Americana band. The core lineup of the group consists of Ryan Bonner (guitar and vocals), Mark Davis (harmonica), Jim Donnelly (drums), and Dave Vaughan (mandolin).
The Travelin’ Kine received significant attention and success, playing over 100 plus shows in less than a year. The band released its first album in 2016. Their first single, “Change in the Wind,” was voted Song of the Year during CPMA in 2015.
