The Obsessed is an American band that originated from Potomac, Maryland. The group deals in the heavy metal genres, currently led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. The band is best known for combining stoner rock, doom metal, and punk rock elements. It was founded in 1980 when the group members recorded a few demos. They also played a few live shows until 1986, when they first split up. The band reformed four years later but again broke up in 1995. In 2012 and 2013, after briefly reuniting for some shows, the group members announced their third reunion in March 2016.
The band's current lineup consists of Scott "Wino" Weinrich – vocals, guitars; Brian "Wendy" White – bass; and Brian Costantino – drums. The group has worked with some well-known labels such as Hell hound, Columbia Southern, Lord Meteor, City Tolotta, and Relapse. The band was originally founded in 1976 as "Warhorse." Initially, the members used to play original punk tunes.
The Obsessed released some of its initial demos in 1980, 1982 and a Promo Demo in 1985. Some of the other notable albums by the band are The Obsessed (Hellhound Records, 1990), Sacred (Relapse Records, 2017), Lunar Womb (Hellhound Records, 1991), and The Church Within (Hellhound Records/Columbia Records, 1994). History of The Obsessed, Live at the Wax Museum, and Incarnate are the three compilation albums by the band. Their hit singles and EPs include Sodden Jackal 7", "To Protect and to Serve" 7"/CD, "Streetside" 7"/CD, etc.
