The Locust Information
The Locust is an American grindcore band that is based in San Diego, California. The band is known for their unique mix of aggression and grind speed, new wave weirdness, and complexity. They became popular when they started wearing insect costumes in live performances. The band was formed in 1994 by Bobby Bray, Dylan Scharf, Dave Astor, Dave Warshaw, and Justin Pearson.
The Locust released their first full-length album in September 1998, called “The Locust” under an independent label called Gold Standard Laboratories. They released their second full-length album on June 24, 2003, called “Plague Soundscapes” under the label ANTI-. Their third album, “New Erections,” got released on March 20, 2007, under the same label ANTI-.
The compilations album by Locust includes “Molecular Genetics” under Gold Standard Laboratories in 2012. The only live album by the band named “The Peel Sessions” was released in 2010 under the label Radio Surgery.
EP’s that are released by The Locust are “The Locust (1997)”, “Flight of The Wounded Locust (2001)”, “Well I’ll Be A Monkeys Uncle (2002)”, “Follow the Flock, Step in Shit (2003)”, and “Safety Second, Body Last (2005)”. Their songs, such as “An Extra Piece Of Dead Meat” and “Nice Tranquil Thums in Mouth” has been featured in the movie “Cecil B. Demented.”
