The Hunger Information
The Hunger is an industrial rock band founded in 1989 and originated from Houston, Texas. The group was created by brothers Jeff and Thomas Wilson. The band’s current lineup includes Alex Slay, Jeff Smith, Richie Hey, and the Wilson brothers. Their music is classified as Industrial rock and EBM Synthpop. During its initial years, the group independently released a self-written song named “Shock” in 1991. The track hit the top of the dance charts and was followed by another song entitled “Cut the Skin” and later, “Shoot to Kill.” These initial songs gained significant national exposure for the group.
“Never Again” was another self-release by The Hunger being released as a radio single, it immediately climbed to the top of Houston Radio Station’s 93Q and 96.5. Leave Me Alone was the first album by the band, which came out in 1991 and was written and produced by the band. The Hunger opened the show for Peter Murphy at Southern Star Amphitheater. The group members have performed concerts at venues all across Texas. Gut Records was the band’s first label, which they released “Grip” under and went on to sell 15,000 units.
Devil Thumbs A Ride was the third album by The Hunger, released in 1996. Some of the follow-up studio albums by the band are Cinematic Superthug (1998), Spaceman’s Last Goodbye (2001), Finding Who We Are (2005), and The Hunger (2020). The group has worked with a few labels so far, including Universal Records and GUT Records.
