The Duprees Information
The Dupress is an American musical group. The group was created in the early 1960s in Jersey City, New Jersey, by students Michael Arnone, John Salvato, Tom Bialoglow, Joe Santollo, and lead singer Joey Canzano (also known as Joey Vann).
Originally Bialoglow and Canzano were singing with a local group, the Utopians, while Arnone, Santollo, and Salvato were with another local group, the Elgins. Canzano sang with the Utopians one night in Hamilton Park, and Arnone, Santollo, and Salvato showed up to listen. The Elgins had just broken up and wanted Canzano to sing in a new group they were establishing. Vann consented, but only if Bialoglow could come along.
Early in their career, Joey Vann got into a fight with Joe Santollo, prompting him to leave the group. The band had no leads, so they decided to employ a black lead singer and began looking among Jersey City's black community, where people recommended them to a local barbershop.
The Parisian group had recently recorded a demo and was hoping to catch the attention of a record label. Coed Records was a label that released music. Since no phone number was left, the group had to wait two months before returning to see if anything had changed. In the end, it turned out that Coed enjoyed their music and wanted them to audition, but he could not get in touch with them.
