Teyana Me Shay Jacqueli Shumpert (December 10, 1990) is an American model, singer, actress, choreographer, and dancer born in New York City. Teyana Taylor, then 15 years old, was acknowledged as the choreographer for American musician Beyoncé's hit single "Ring the Alarm" in September 2006. Taylor secured a deal with Interscope Records in January 2007 to join American recording artist and record producer Pharrell Williams' Star Trak Entertainment label.
Taylor rose to prominence after appearing on MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen, a show about lavish birthday parties for wealthy children, in February 2007. Taylor launched her commercial debut single, "Google Me," in February 2008.
Taylor began acting in August 2010, when she starred in the sequel to Stomp the Yard, titled Stomp the Yard: Homecoming. She also starred in the premiere episode of Oxygen's House of Glam, which aired in October 2010. Kanye West invited Taylor to the studio to look at some of her wardrobe pieces only hours before his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was due to be turned in. Taylor was keen to make an appearance on West's fifth album while in the studio.
