Daniel Hernandez (May 8, 1996) is an American rapper, professionally known by his stage name, Tekashi69. He was born in New York City. After releasing his debut single, "Gummo," which was a sleeper smash in late 2017, Hernandez became well-known. Following that, he released the mixtape Day69 (2018), which was supported by the Billboard Hot 100 songs "Kooda," "Keke" (with Fetty Wap and A Boogie wit da Hoodie), and "Gotti."
The second song from his first album Dummy Boy (2018), is "Fefe" (with Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz), which reached number three on the Hot 100. Despite scathing critical reviews, Dummy Boy reached number two on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA.
Since his release from prison, Hernandez has continued commercial success; his single "Gooba" debuted at number three in the US, and "Trollz," his third collaboration with Minaj, landed at number one. TattleTales (2020), his second album, debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 in the United States. However, several prominent hip-hop celebrities have criticized or ostracized Hernandez for his role as a prosecution witness in the Nine Trey Gangsters trial.
