Stella Donnelly (April 10, 1992) is a Welsh-Australian indie rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. She was born in Western Australia, Australia. Donnelly started in the music industry when she joined a Green Day cover band in high school (at Irene McCormack Catholic College). After graduating from high school, Donnelly attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to study jazz and contemporary music. Before embarking on a solo career, Donnelly played in the bands Boat Show and Bell Rapids.
In 2017, Donnelly dropped an EP titled Thrush Metal on Healthy Tapes. Secretly Canadian, a record company based in the United States, reissued the EP in 2018. Secretly Canadian released Beware of the Dogs, Donnelly's first studio album, on March 8, 2019. It was hailed as a "musical encyclopedia of [male] assholes" by critic Robert Christgau, among others.
Beware of the Dogs received a nomination for Breakthrough Artist at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards. A list of "The 15 Australian female artists changing the game right now" was published by Happy Mag in October 2019, and Donnelly was ranked no. 6. Donnelly sang on the single "Proof" from Methyl Ethel's fourth album Are You Haunted?, released in January 2022.
